Pvt. Harley A. Ellis, who entered the armed forces with the army air corps, Sept. 16, has been seriously ill with pneumonia in the Buckley field hospital, but is better and is now back at the barracks. His present address is Sq. 768-788 E 528 Buckley Field, Colo.

ELLIS IS SERGEANT

Harley Algernon Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Ellis, 1315 Kellogg, was promoted to the rank of sergeant at Panama City, Fla., in the Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery school at Lyndall Field, and today wears the silver wings of an aerial gunner.

Sgt. Harley Ellis, Former Resident
Killed Over China

Word has been received that Sgt. Harley Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Ellis, was killed in action over China Oct. 29.

Sgt. Ellis, a graduate of Ames high school, was inducted in the Armed Forces Aug. 21, 1942. He received his wings at Lyndal Field, Fla., in March, 1942 and was graduated from teh Aeronautical School of Gunnery at Buckley Field, Colo.

On Dec. 20, 1943, he was married to Chere Leverich at Oklahoma City.

Sgt. Ellis left by plane for India Feb. 21, 1944 with the 24th Combat Mapping squadron for active duty.

His brother, Thaine Ellis, is in the Marine Corps. Another brother, Roy Ellis, resides at Roy Ellis, 1620 N. Niagra, Burbank, Calif.
