Roy Jack McDaniel, age 89, formerly of Leon, Iowa, the son of Roy Daniel and Mary Beulah (Walton) McDaniel, was born October 16, 1926 in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

Jack attended East Eden Country School. He and his twin sister, Jean, often rode a pony to school. Then Jack helped his dad on the farm southeast of Leon. After Roy’s passing, Jack stepped in and helped Mary live at home for several years. They continued living on the farm for a few more years before moving into Leon.

Jack enjoyed country music, loved to fish, and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Leon. He was a kind, gentle soul who was friendly, helpful, and enjoyed visiting with everyone. He always had a smile and enjoyed a good time.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Lois Wensel and husband Dwight; brother-in-law, Leonard Davis; and nephews, Loren Wensel and Brent Wensel.

Survivors include his twin sister, Jean Davis of Stanton, California; sister, Carolyn Wilson and husband, Roy of Creighton, Missouri; nieces and nephews; cousins, Ladine Palmer and Virgene Brown, both of Leon and Freda Osborn of Davis City, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
