Leon, Decatur County, IowaJanice Faye Black, age 79, of Indianola, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Miller and Elsie Violet (Hartley) Pettit, was born October 11, 1937, in Decatur County, Iowa. She died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on October 21, 2016.
Janice grew up and attended school in Indianola, Iowa. Over the years she worked at nursing homes and was a factory worker. In her free time, she enjoyed painting tablecloths.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and sister, Dora Clevenger, and brother, Wayne Pettit.
Survivors include her children, Jackie and Dick Rouse of Indianola, Iowa, Bill Hoskins of Indianola, and Randy and Sandy Black of Taylorsville, Utah; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services were held at the Rose Hill Cemetery [Indianola] on Friday, October 28, 2016. Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.
