Obituary ~ Stephen Lewis Sanders
September 28, 1921 ~ January 31, 2012

Stephen Lewis Sanders, 90, Bethany, MO passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at a Cameron, MO hospital.

He was born September 28, 1921 in Leon, Iowa, the son of Henry William and Glada Fern (Warnstaff) Sanders.

Stephen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1940 to 1946 in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He farmed and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986 as Superintendent-Of-Postal-Operations after over 34 years of government service. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of the First Christian Church of Bethany and the VFW Post #2176. He had also served on the Martinsville School Board.

On January 26, 1944, she married Leona Darby in Norfolk, Virginia. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and son-in-law, Paul Beydler.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Leona; 2 daughters, Stephenie Beydler, Grant City, MO and Cathy Coble, Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Cleta Sanders, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Ronette (Roger) Sherman, Gallatin, MO, Reggie Runyan, Martinsville, MO, Sabrina (Dustin) Ellis, Bethany, Stephen, Daniel and Morgan Totton and Hannah Coble all of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandchildren, Coltin and Callie Smith, Riley Hagan, Torrie Runyan and Izabella Leona Ellis; son-in-law, Ron (Sandy) Runyan, Bethany, MO; a special dog, Copper; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church in care of the Roberson Funeral Home, PO Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424

Visitation: Friday February 3, 2012, 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO Friends may call anytime after NOON on Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service: Friday February 3, 2012, 2:00 pm at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial with Military Rites: Friday February 3, 2012 at Kidwell Cemetery, Martinsville, Missouri
