Obituary ~ Elizabeth Ann (Follmer) Burchett
September 16, 1885 ~

ELIZABETH ANN, daughter of GEORGE C. and MARGARET KIRCHHOFF FOLLMER, was born in Ripple County, Indiana, September 16, 1885.

She started school in Indiana, continuing in Illinois where her parents moved there, then to Iowa where her schooling was completed in the Leon High School. Following Normal School at Cedar Falls and Lamoni she taught successfully several years in the rural schools of Iowa.

She married CHARLES A. BURCHETT March 22, 1916. They lived on a farm in the Van Wert community the first 17 years of their married life. Two children were born to them during this time: a son EMERY CHARLES, and a daughter VIRGINIA WINIFRED. They moved to the Grand River community and lived the remainder of their married life.

Her husband, CHARLES, died in 1959, after which she continued to live with her son EMERY.

She was a devoted church member all her life, and at her death was a member of the Grand River United Methodist Church.

Following an illness of six weeks, she died at Westview Acres Nursing Home, Leon, April 27, 1971, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Preceding her in death were her husband, CHARLES; her parent; four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her son, EMERY, Grand River; daughter VIRGINIA CLEMENT and husband HOWARD, Bondurant; five grandchildren: KAREN KAY, BARRY JOE, CHRISTINE, BRENDA and KEVIN CLEMENT; three sisters; ELLEN FOLLMER, Shenandoah; SYLVA MCCALLA, Clarinda; MARY JANE CARSON, Adel; one brother, JESSES FOLLMER, Clarinda; a number of brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made in Grand River Cemetery.]
