Obituary ~ Eva Gladys Curry
July 31, 1891 ~ January 29, 1970

EVA GLADYS CURRY, the youngest daughter of ROBERT BANCROFT and ANNA GARDNER CURRY, was born July 31, 1891, in Decatur County, and died January 29, 1970 at the Decatur County Hospital at thr age of 78.

She lived on the farm with her parents and older sister NEVA, until after the death of her father, January 24, 1894. In the following spring she and her mother and sister went to live in the home of her maternal grandfather, JOHN W. GARDNER, where they remained until 1899 when the moved into the home in Leon where she lived the rest of her life.

She graduated from Leon High School in 1911, received her B. A. degree from Drake University in 1926 and her M.A. in 1927. She taught in the rural schools of Decatur County for eleven years, one year at Maxwell High School, and in the Leon High School for 29 years.

She joined the First Christian Church at Leon during her girlhood and maintained her membership there for the rest of her life.

Surviving are her brother-in-law ORANGE DORSEY; two nieces, EVELYN GLEAVES, Muscatine; and ILLA COFFEY, Menomonee, Wis.; 10 great nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
