Obituary ~ John Have Bartlett
August 10, 1873 ~ August 10, 1970A native of Decatur County, JOHN HARVE BARRETT was born August 10, 1873 and died at his home in Leon, Iowa on his 97th birthday. He was the last surviving member of the EDMOND and MARTHA ANN MALONE BARRETT family.
He spent 62 years on the farm of his birth, 12 years farming and raising livestock on other Eden township farms, and the last 26 years in Leon.
He knew by experience the hardships of early farming life. In his declining years he treasured the memory of his strength and his pride and joy.
He has served his community as township trustee and as a member of the school board. He was a Republican and took much interest in the success of his party.
He married MILLIE V. COZAD on July 26, 1902. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1962. His parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
He is survived by their only child, RUTH; several nieces and nephews.
