Obituary ~ Edna Marie (Bartlett) Anderson
September 12, 1898 ~ January 02, 1970

EDNA MARIE, oldest child of CLARENCE and ARVILLA MCFARLAND BARTLETT, was born September 12, 1898 at Humeston, Iowa. She died at the Chariton Manor, Chariton, Iowa on January 2, 1970 at the age of 71 years.

On January 24, 1925, she was married to FRED ANDERSON of rural Humeston, and to this union three children were born. Her married life was spent on a farm northwest of Humeston.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at High Point.

Mrs. ANDERSON was a graduate from Garden Grove Schools in 1916, and began her Normal Training School there. She began her teaching career at a rural school south of Garden Grove, later teaching at Richman, LeRoy, Derby and Hearing. She retired this past summer, after a teaching career that extended over 50 years. In August, 1960 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Drake University. She was awarded a life membership in ISEA on April 27, 1967.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and her eldest son, HARRY, who died in November, 1966.

Besides her husband FRED, she leaves a daughter, BETTE BOLING and husband ART, Silver City, N. M.; and a son DONALD and wife MARY, Chariton; daughter-in-law, MARJORIE ANDERSON, Coulter, Iowa; sister, CATHERINE ARMSTRONG, Garden Grove; brother KENNETH BARTLETT, Davis City; seven grandchildren: LINDA BOLLING BEARUP, Jacksonville, N. C.; MICHAEL BOLLING, Silver City; CHRIS, CARLA and KAREN ANDERSON all of Coulter; and ERIC and KRISTI ANDERSON, Chariton; two great grandchildren, SCOTT and WENDI BEARUP, Jacksonville.

Services were held January 5 in the Hutchinson Funeral Home in Humeston, conducted by the Rev. JOHN PATTERSON. Burial was in the Humeston Cemetery.
