October )5, 1872 ~ June 10, 1893

Independent Patriot
Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa
June 29, 1893

OBITUARY

Wm. P. Woods was born in the home where he died, October 5th, 1872, died of consumption Saturday, June 10th, 1893 aged 21 years 8 months and 5 days. Although not a member of any church he believed in the doctrine as taught by the Latter Day Saints as evinced by his desire to be administered to by the Elders through which administration he was often relieved of his sufferings by the prayer of faith. Funeral sermon at the house was preached by Elder James McDiffit.

Willie leaves father, mother, one brother and six sisters, besides many friends, to mourn his early death.

"Dear brother, thou art gone to rest,
Thine is an early tomb;
But Jesus summoned thee away;
Thy savior called thee home.

"Dear brother thou are gone to rest
And this shall be our prayer,
That when we reach our journey's end,
Thy glory we may share."
