Obituary ~ Carol Ann (Hewlett) Jimmerson
October 02, 1942 ~ March 01, 2016

Carol Ann Jimmerson, age 73, of Grand River, Iowa, died peacefully at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, Iowa on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, surrounded by her family, after a two year struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was born October 2, 1942, at Grand River, Iowa to Auris Lee and Cleo Mae (Payton) Hewlett.

Carol grew up on the farm with three brothers. She loved the outdoors and spent her younger years following her dad around helping him care for the animals. She so enjoyed the little baby calves every spring, her chickens, and having two large gardens every year. She graduated from Grand River High School in 1961. She loved sports and was a good basketball and softball player. She lived most of her life in Grand River.

On June 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Gary Lloyd Jimmerson at the Grand River United Methodist Church. Three children were born to this union, Grant Lloyd, Galen Lee, and Shelly Ann.

Carol worked at Lamoni Products in Lamoni, Iowa for four years and then Murray Products in Murray, Iowa for 22 years. She also worked at Pamida in Osceola, Iowa for seven years. She helped Gary on the farm as needed.

Carol and Gary helped their kids with 4-H and County and State Fairs showing their animals. All three of their children won showmanship with their hogs.

Carol loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She went to as many ballgames and activities as she could over the years to cheer them on. She also enjoyed watching westerns and the Food Channel on television and reading Laura Ingalls Wilder books.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Cleo Hewlett; husband, Gary Jimmerson in 2006; father-in-law, Lloyd Jimmerson; brother, Francis and Lena Hewlett; and grandparents, Albert and Birdie Hewlett and A.I. and Berniece Payton.

Survivors include her children, Grant and Stephani Jimmerson of Dallas Center, Iowa, Galen and Patti Jimmerson of Grand River, Iowa and Shelly and Darin Wookey of Murray, Iowa; Jenny Jimmerson of Adel, Iowa; grandchildren, Byron & Nicole Jimmerson of Osceola, Iowa, Jewel & Matt Hogberg of Kansas City, Missouri, Justin & Sarah Summers of Winterset, Iowa, Alisha & Cass Lamb of Murray, Joshua & Britanie Summers of Grand River, Cody and Kaitlyn Jimmerson of Adel, Iowa, Kayla and Brycen Wookey of Murray, and Mackenzie, Chelsie, and Cory Fallis of Dallas Center; seven great grandchildren, Emma LeeAnn Jimmerson, Carson Alanna and Tegan Jane Summers, Ayden Michael and Audrine Mae Lamb, Ellianah Marie and Leeland Kyle Summers, and two more expected soon; brothers, Gene Hewlett and Mary Joyce Hewlett, Albert & Phyllis Hewlett, all of Grand River; mother-in-law, Freda Hixson of Grand River; brothers-in-law, Ronald & Patty Jimmerson of Osceola, Danny & Joan Jimmerson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Melvis & Marsha Jimmerson of Van Meter, Iowa; sister-in-law, Eula & Duane Dolecheck of Creston, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 5, 2016, at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa, with Pastor Clegguart Mitchell officiating. Recorded musical selections will be "Gathering Flowers For the Master's Bouquet" by Connie Smith, "Amazing Grace" by Joey & Rory and "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" by Alan Jackson.

Pallbearers include Jewell Hogberg, Byron Jimmerson, Cody Jimmerson, Kaitie Jimmerson, Alisha Lamb, Josh Summers, Justin Summers, Brycen Wookey and Kayla Wookey.

Interment will be made at Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
