Obituary ~ Catherine Marie "Katie" (Everett) Persall
August 20, 1958 ~ December 19, 2015

Catherine "Katie" Marie Persall, age 57, of Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Robert and Anna Mae (Schluterman) Everett, was born on August 20, 1958, at Dallas, Texas. She left this life on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.

Katie grew up in Seabrook, Texas. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1976. Then, she attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and graduated in 1980. While in college she met her husband, Faren Charles Persall. They married on August 23, 1980, in Pasadena, Texas. The two had three children: Kelsie, Charles "Charlie", and Catelin.

Katie started her working career as the dance coach in Clear Lake, Texas at Clear Lake High School. Later she taught physical education at Long Fellow Elementary and Passmore Elementary School. After 28 years, she retired and joined the staff of Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Katie started in the admissions office then moved departments to become the Graceland Gadet dance coach. Eventually Katie took on classes and supervised student teachers in addition to coaching the Graceland Gadet Dance team.

In her free time growing up, Katie loved to dance and synchronize swim but her favorite activity throughout life was talking to people. Also, Katie became a member of the Lamoni Lions Club shortly after moving to Lamoni, Iowa.

Preceding her in death was her dad, Don Everett, in 2013, and her husband, Charles Persall, in 2014. Survivors of Katie include her children, Kelsie and Benjy Lewis of Monroe, Louisiana, Charlie and Mares Persall of Lamoni, and Catelin Persall of Lamoni; two grandchildren, Payton and Catie Rae Lewis; her mother, Ann Everett of Lamoni; siblings, Kelly and Teri Portz Everett of Lamoni, Debbie and Dwight Hines of Beaumont, Texas, Shannon and Rosemary Everett of Mansfield, Texas, and Tim and Vicki Everett of Huffman, Texas; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Lamoni Community of Christ Church at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, with Dwight Hines and Kelly Everett officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Arrangements are through the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the Graceland Gadets Dance Team in Katie's memory.
