Decatur County Journal
October 29, l9l4

GRANT DORSEY, well known in Leon, committed
suicide at his home in High
Point Township eight miles southeast of
Garden Grove last Friday
morning, by hanging himself to a beam in a
buggy shed. He was dead when
discovered by one of his sons about 4
o'clock.

It seems that MR. DORSEY had been in poor
health. At an early hour
Friday morning, he made his way out of the
house without disturbing any
member of his family and succeeded in ending
his life by hanging in a
nearby buggy shed. As soon as his absence
was discovered by his family,
a search was begun and his body was found by
one of the boys. Dr.
Lyons, of Garden Grove, was summoned and
reached the DORSEY home shortly
after 4 o'clock. The body was still hanging.
Sheriff Lorey was called
and Dr. H.R. Layton, the County Coroner,
condulted. The case was one of
clear suicide and Dr. Layton decided that an
inquest was not necessary.

The remains were then cared for by an
undertaker. The funeral was held
Sunday morning from the home and interment in
the cemetery at High Point
followed. The bereaved family have the
sincere sympathy of all. MR.
DORSEY leaves a wife and eight children.
