Mrs. SOPHIA KINDRED Dies

Mrs. SOPHIA KINDRED of Leon died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. KENNETH LEWIS, near Osceola early Wednesday. She leaves five children include CHET of Leon; Mrs. FLEETA LUITJEN, Aurora; Mrs. HAZEL FORSYTHE, Cove, Oregon, and Mrs. BRONA MCLAUGHLIN, Osceola. The body is at the Slade Funeral Home pending arrangements for the service.

Obituary.

Mrs. SOPHIA E. KINDRED, daughter of J. C. and PALETHA DUFF, was born May 8, 1883, in Harris, Mo. in Mercer county, Mo., and departed this life June 1, 1949, at the age of 66 years, and 23 days in the home of her daughter, Mrs. KENNETH LEWIS near Woodburn, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to LEVI MEARL KINDRED, February 14, 1904. To this union were born seven children. Two children and her husband preceeding her in death. Those left to mourn her death are four daughters and one son: Mrs. LESTER FORSYTHE, Cove, Oregon; Mrs. KENNETH LEWIS, Woodburn, Iowa; CHESTER KINDRED, Leon; Mrs. ALLIE MCLAUGHLIN, Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. CECIL LUITJENS, of Aurora, Iowa; Fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Five brothers and one sister; VIRGIL, and SCOTT of California; CLAUDE, of Colorado; ARTIE, of Nebraska; PAUL of Washington state and Mrs. LAVDA ANDREW, of Leon. Seventeen nieces and nephews, also a host of friends.

In 1912 she united with the Baptist church.

The most of her childhood was spent near Saline, Mo. After her marriage she moved to Lineville, Iowa, remaining there until the death of her husband in 1918. She moved to Leon where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was a wonderful mother and loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. BERNARD WEETMAN of the Methodist church were held at the slade Funeral Home last Friday afternoon. Burial was in the Leon cemetery.
