Barbie L. Ryan, 58, of Glenwood, Iowa died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Jenny Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on January 11, 2005 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. The service will begin at 11:30 a.m. and burial will be in the Garden Grove Cemetery in Garden Grove, Iowa.

Barbara Louise Ryan was born in Lucas County on July 28, 1946, the daughter of Lewis and Opal Ryan. Her sisters and brothers include: Karen Morgan, of North Liberty, Iowa; Myra Wagehoft of Coralville, Iowa; Vivian Ryan of West Des Moines, Iowa; Dan Ryan of Lucas, Iowa; Jane McGlumphrey of Coralville, Iowa; Becky Hebert of Sealy, TX; Sam Ryan of Johnston, Iowa; Deb Abel of North Liberty, IA; and Mike Ryan of Tiffin, IA.

Barbie lived at Greenwood Manor in Glenwood, Iowa and was graciously cared for by the caregivers there for the past 17 years. Barbie had few ways to communicate with others. However, music was always her one great joy. She joined several siblings in song just before Christmas. Her voice will be missed in the family choir.

Barbie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lewis and Opal Ryan.
