Obituary.

MERLE BENJAMIN PERKS was born June 25, 1905, at Leon, Iowa and departed this life in San Francisco, California hospital, July 18, 1948 at the age of 43 years and 18 days. He had been in poor health for the past six years but he bore his suffering with a smile. He leaves to mourn his departure his parents, Mr. and Mrs. U. R. PERKS, three sisters, Mrs. DEWEY CHLOPEK, of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. C. L. MANCHESTER, Decatur, Iowa; Mrs. RALPH STANFORD of Leon, Iowa; one brother, PEARL also of Leon. One brother and one sister have preceded him in death. He also leaves eight nieces and two nephews, and a host of other relatives and many friends.

MERLE was kind hearted and had a very friendly disposition, always a cheery hello and a smile for all, and always ready to lend a hand to those who were in need. He loved his home and was a dutiful son and brother.

Services were held from the Slade Funeral Home, Thursday, July 22, 1948 at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. GEO. R. LAMB. Music and singing furnished by Mrs. EVA LAMB and Mrs. KERMIT WILLIAMS. Interment being made in the Leon cemetery.
