Leon, Decatur County, IowaAUDREY IRENE PARSONS, daughter of NEWTON REX and JOSIE EDITH (POLLARD) BOOR, was born on May 27, 1913 at LeRoy, Iowa, and died Dec. 14, 1983 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, age 70 years.
IRENE grew up in the LeRoy community, graduation from LeRoy High School. Upon graduation, she attended Cedar Falls Teachers College.
Rural schools in Clarke, Taylor and Decatur counties were her first schools taught in her 27 years of teaching. IRENE’s last 12 years of teaching were spent in the Mormon Trail Schools. She retired from Mormon Trail in 1972 due to illness.
On Dec. 18, 1937, IRENE was united in marriage to WAYNE PARSONS in Maryville, Mo. they spent their life in Decatur County, all but 3 years in High Point Township.
She was a member of the High Point Methodist Church since 1942; and served in many ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, MAXINE KUCERA.
Surviving are her husband, WAYNE; daughter, REBECCA ANNABELLE ADAIR and husband LONNIE; 2 granddaughter, KIMBERLY SYBAYNE and AMBER ANN ADAIR, both of Leon; brother DWIGHT A. BOOR, Casper, Wo.; other relatives and friends.
She will be missed by all the people in Decatur and the surrounding counties who have attended the Songfest’s which WAYNE and IRENE have devoted their time since 1975.
