Sarah Lou Strom, age 68, of Garden Grove, Iowa was born in Decatur County, Iowa on June 10, 1946, to John Henry and Zana Ruth (Curry) McKibben. She passed away at her sister, Peggy's home in Des Moines, Iowa while under Hospice care.

Sarah grew up in Decatur County, Iowa and attended Garden Grove Community School before it consolidated and became Mormon Trail School, graduating in 1964. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa and attended cosmetology school. After graduation she started working in Des Moines. It was where she lived when she met and married Curtis Wayne Strom on January 23, 1971. His two sons, Wayne and John, became part of Sarah's family. They were blessed with their own daughter, Kibbee. Unfortunately, Curtis passed away in 1979, while still a young man. Sarah graduated from Drake University in 1984. She and Kibbee moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she taught elementary and middle school for approximately 20 years. She obtained her masters degree in education from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth in 1994.

In her free time, Sarah enjoyed reading, making jellies and jams, but, especially, spending time with her grandchildren. She has traveled to 49 states, missing only Hawaii. She was a member of PEO, Chapter GO in Texas and T in Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Curtis. Survivors include her daughter, Kibbee Strom, of Des Moines, Iowa; sons, Wayne Strom and wife Ellen and John Strom, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Amy Strom of Stillwater, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Andy, Rhea, Michael, Lillyanne, and Eric Strom; sisters, Serena Linn and Peggy Murphy, both of Des Moines; nephews, Aaron and John and wife Theresa; niece, Katie; great nieces and nephews, Zach, Alex, Anathea, Avalena; special friends, Kay and Joe Ray, of Ft. Worth and Rod Schmidt of Garden Grove; and other extended family and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Garden Grove Auxiliary Chapter #450 or PEO Chapter T.

Memorial services were conducted at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2 p.m. Interment will be made at Garden Grove Cemetery at a later date. Slade-O'Donnel Funeral Home of Leon was in chaarge of arrangements.
