Vena Marquis Dies Sept. 5

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7 for Vena Marquis of Monroe, Iowa, who died Monday, September 5. Mrs. Marquis died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Rev. Jerry Wolcott of Monroe, Iowa and Rev. Ivan C. Bys of Osceola will conduct the 1:30 p.m. service from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa.

Vena Marquis, 83, was born in Murray, Iowa March 22, 1894, the daughter of Elisha H. and Ella Elizabeth Stephenson O'Neall. She attended the Woodburn Schools and was a teacher in the Clarke County Schools.

She was united in marriage to L. A. Arnold in Woodburn, Iowa January 1, 1914 and two children were born to this union. On December 20, 1967 she was married to J. W. Marquis in Atlantic, Iowa. She was a member of the D.A R. and Doe's and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, J. W Marquis of Monroe, Iowa; daughter, Daleth Wulf and husband, Herbert of Exira, Iowa; son, F. D. Arnold and wife, Wanda of Kamrar, Iowa; step-daughter, Cleta Robins of Chariton, Iowa; seven sisters, Winnie Bard, Osceola; Grace Edmondson, Osceola; Opal Howard of Carol Stream, Illinois; Louie Garrett of Des Moines, Iowa; Ella Davenport of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Marguerite Ruble of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Mildred Scott of Mesa, Arizona; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, L. A. Arnold on July 22, 1959; brother, Herbert; half-brother, John O'Neall; half-sister, Alma Kerr; two great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
