Obituary ~ Mildred Glenella (McConnell) Carrico Daugherty
March 11, 1922 ~ May 14, 2014

Mildred G. Carrico Daugherty, formerly of Grand River, Iowa, died in Lebanon [Oregon], Wednesday evening. She was 92 years old.

She was born in Grand River, Iowa, the daughter of Hoyle and Easter McConnell. She grew up in Grand River and graduated from high school there. She moved to a farm outside of Leon, Iowa with her family. She was a candy striper at the Leon Hospital.

Mildred married Melvin "Peach" Carrico February 22, 1947 and to this union two children were born. They then moved to Garden Grove, Iowa where they lived for 4 years, then moved to Des Moines for 5 years before her family moved to Albany, Oregon in 1959.

She worked for JC Penny's until 1968 when she went to work for Payless Department store. After the death of her husband in 1983 she married Glen Daugherty in Albany at the First Christian Church in 1987. They moved to Newton, Iowa for 9 years until she returned to Albany and then to Lebanon where she has lived since.

Surviving are her daughter Glenella Polensky and husband Vernon of Belfield, North Dakota, and one son Jon Carrico of Sweet Home, Oregon. Sister, Mae Latta and brother Jack McConnell; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and a special sister in law, Edith McConnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Maurice and Max, her first husband Melvin Carrico and second husband Glen Daugherty.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 19th at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, Albany. Visitation will be held from noon to 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Fisher Funeral Home in Albany.

Arrangements were handled by Fisher Funeral Home.
