Obituary ~ Elizabeth "Eliza" (Brinneman) Chambers
February 25, 1816 ~ June 04, 1894

Mrs. ELIZA F. CHAMBERS, DIED – In Hutchinson, Kansas, June 4, 1894, after an illness of ten days with heart disease. Mrs. ELIZA E., wife of DANIEL CHAMBERS, aged 78 years, 3 months and 9 days. The funeral services were held at the home.

The deceased came to Decatur county with her husband in 1853, from Jefferson county, Iowa, having come to the state three or four years previous. They lived in Leon until a year ago. She was the mother of seven children, three boys and four girls, three of whom survive her; one son at Leon, Iowa, one daughter at Hutchinson, Kansas and one is South Dakota.

[NOTE: Eliza was Elizabeth (Brinneman) Chambers, wife of Daniel E. Chambers. Daniel was born June 21, 1816 in Pennsylvania, and came to Leon in 1848. In 1850, Daniel went to seek his fortune in the gold mines of California, He returned to Leon two years later, experiencing indifferent success, and resumed farming. Daniel and Elizabeth moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1893, to live with their daughter, Mrs. Joel M. (Sarah A. Chambers) Anderson. Daniel, who had been blind for approximately 20 years, died September 8, 1905, Hutchinson, Kansas. Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania on February 25, 1816, and died June 4, 1894, Hutchinson, Kansas. They were prominent members of the Methodist Church. Besides Sarah A. (born September 8, 1844, PA) Daniel and Elizabeth were the parents of: Austin Chambers, born March 29, 1841, PA, a Civil War Veteran, died January 17, 1889, Lyoden, Wasington territory; Mary Ellen, born December 2, 1847, PA, married George T. Chandler, resided at Armur, SD; Emma Jane, born May 29, 1858, Leon IA, died June 16, 1869; and Amos, born October 16, 1854, resided at Leon Iowa. ~ PLOUGHE, Sheridan.
