Obituary.

JOHN D. STRONG was born in Gilpon*, Knox County, Illinois, December 19, 1841, and departed this life at his home in Geary, Oklahoma, January 30, 1924, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 11 days. In early life he came with his parents to Decatur County, Iowa, where he lived until 1900, when he moved to Geary, Oklahoma, where he resided until his death.

During his long residence in Decatur County, he always took a prominent part in public affairs, and served several years as a member of the Board of Supervisors. He was married to MISS KATE HINER, February 14, 1864, and to this union were born nine children, six girls and three boys, one daughter passed away in 1894, and all of the children were in attendance at his funeral. Two daughters, MRS. JOHN F. RUMLEY and MRS. A.R. KELLER are residents of Decatur County. Had he lived until February 14th, he and his aged companion who survives, would have journeyed together through life for sixty years, and it is a remarkable record. In addition to the devoted wife and eight children, he is survived by twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, together with a host of friends both at Geary and here at his old home in Decatur County.

[Interment was made at Geary Cemetery, Blaine County, Oklahoma.]
