Obituary ~ Sarah Ann (Truitt) Bethards

Sarah Ann, eldest daughter of G.M and Clarinda Truitt was born October 17 1866 in Putnam county Indiana and passed away at her home northeast of Leon on Easter Sunday April 16 1933.

She came to Davis City Iowa with her parents where they until about the year 1873. He parents moved to Woodland township and later moving to Leon in 1906 where she has made her home ever since.

On July 10, 1913 she was united in marriage to John D. Bethards who passed away Dec. 30 1918.

Mrs. Bethards was the oldest of ten children, five of whom preceded her, also her father and her mother. The four remaining two sisters and two brothers, are Miss Mattie Truitt of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Gleason of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; Frank Truitt of Dover Oklahoma; and Harvey Truitt of Kansas City, Kansas, who survive, besides a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Stewart Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, conducted by Rev C. B. Rayhill, pastor of the Leon M. E. church, interment being made in the Leon Cemetery beside her husand.
