Sarah Agnes (Hinds) Rhoads was born July 25, 1893 in Morgan Twp. Decatur county Iowa to William M. and Abelle Hinds. She died Dec. 27, 1983 at the age of 90 years, five months and 2 days. She was married to Stephen Ralph Akes on July 15, 1909. Born to Sarah and Stephen were two sons, Wllard Martin and Gerald Lester. Stephen passed away on July 8, 1946. Sarah married Frank Rhoads on April 11, 1948. Frank passed away on May 16, 1964.

Sarah was a member of the Leon Christian Church, F.F.W. Auxiliary, Equal Rights Rebekah Lodge No. 409 (52 years), Past Noble Grands, Leon Garden Club, Sunshine Club, Social Club and Friendship Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; 4 sisters; Delphia, Marie, Thieda and Wilma; one brother Melvin. Surviving are her sons; Willard and wife Myra of Nampa, Id.; Gerald and wife Marge of Grimes, Iowa; 4 grandsons; John Akes and wife Barbara of High Point, N.C.; Steven Akes and wife Terri of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; Stanley Akes and wife Sandy of Chariton, Iowa, and Stuart Akes of Leon; 6 great grandchildren and many friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
