Robert Gaston Albee departed this life May 25, 1923, at his home in north Leon, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 26 days. At the age of 15 years he moved to Decatur County where he lived at his death. In 1867 he enlisted in the Army in Co. C 9th Iowa Cavalry, serving almost three years. In 1867, he married Elizabeth Simpson, to this union, nine children were born, two having preceded their father in death. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving wife, seven children and fourteen grandchildren. He was loved by all who knew him. he was not only a husband, and father, but true to his country and flag.

Funeral services were held at his home, conducted by George R. Lamb. the remains were laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery by the American Legion firing squad.
