Friday July 15, 2005OBITUARY - JESSICA MARIE PIERSCHBACHER
Jessica PIERSCHBACHER, 16, of Tingley died of cancer July 12, 2005, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the United Methodist Church in Tingley. The Rev. Brian OLIVER and the Rev. Ainslee BRILLO will officiate the service. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, southeast of Grand River. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. Students, staff or friends are also invited to celebrate Jessica's life with memory making at the Mount Ayr Public Library basement 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Tingley or Hospice of Central Iowa.
Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr has charge of arrangements.
Jessica PIERSCHBACHER, daughter of Sandra (SMITH) and Curtis PIERSCHBACHER, was born March 23, 1989, in Creston. She would have been a junior at Mount Ayr High School this fall. She worked at Silver Spur Restaurant in Grand River and recently at Peggy Sue's in Mount Ayr. She was a member of Tingley United Methodist Church; Wishard, Ellston and Tingley Church youth group; FFA; Tingley Toppers 4-H Club; 4-H county council; Mount Ayr Library Club and Drama Club. She attended the 2003 Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tenn., under the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Survivors include her parents, Curtis and Sandy PIERSCHBACHER of Tingley; two brothers, Nate PIERSCHBACHER of Lamoni and Weston PIERSCHBACHER of Tingley; grandparents Norma (husband Gene) BINNING of Grand River and Jim (wife Mary Ann) SMITH of Beaconsfield; great-grandmother Marie WOOKEY of Grand River; aunts and uncles Robert (wife Dawn) SMITH of Durant, Debbie (husband Chad) FIDERLEIN of West Branch, Todd (wife Judy) PEDERSON of Ankeny; Max (wife Brenda) BOLES of Grand River and Darin (wife Shelly) WOOKEY of Murray; cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by grandfathers Floyd PIERSCHBACHER and Duane WOOKEY and great-grandmothers Mildred SMITH and Geneva PIERSCHBACHER.
NOTE: Jessica was a member of the 2004 Iowa Arts Council State Fair Camera Corps, and won an honorable mention in the 2005 Iowa Character Competition.

With her parents by her side, Jessica Marie PIERSCHBACHER was lifted up to the Lord, July 12, 2005 after a courageous fight with cancer.
Jess was born March 23, 1989 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa to Sandy (SMITH) and Curt PIERSCHBACHER. Brothers Nathan and Weston completed the family. Jess grew up on a farm near Tingley, where she loved and cared for her horse, Sunny, her cattle and her cats, Lizzie and Annie.
Jess would have been a junior at Mount Ayr Community high school. She was a dedicated student, participated in Drama Club, FFA and Library Club. She loved to read and always had a book by her side. Jess was a seven-year member of the Tingley Toppers 4-H Club. She served as club president, historian, reporter and photographer and was a member of the 4-H County Council. She enjoyed her projects and was a talented photographer and pie baker.
Jess loved attending the Iowa State Fair. It was the highlight of her summer. She always looked forward to camping with her family and later worked at Youth Inn. It was important to Jess to have a job. She started out helping her Grandma SMITH clerk auctions and later worked at the Silver Spur in Grand River and Peggy Sue's in Mount Ayr.
Friends were important to Jess and she was a little social bug. She hated missing school for fear she might miss out on something. She loved hanging out with her friends and driving her little yellow car.
Jessica was a very spiritual person with unwavering faith. She was baptized on May 21, 1989 and confirmed in Christ August 3, 2003 at the Tingley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed participating in the church youth group. Jess was surprised in November 2003 with a trip to the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. It was her wish come true from the Make-A-wish Foundation.
Some of Jess' favorite things were: the Iowa Hawkeyes, eating prime rib at the Silver Spur, attending prom, traveling, shopping, acting in the school plays and rodeoing with her family. Jess never took life for granted. She lived life passionately and to the fullest. Yet she always had time for her friends and family. She was a caregiver and she loved children, especially her younger cousins. Through all the highs and lows, Jess made life an adventure. Even in the hardest of times, she took care of her friends and family and always put them first. her passion, strength and love for life will live in us forever.
Jess is survived by her parents, Sandy and Curt of Tingley, Iowa; her brothers, Nate of Lamoni, Iowa and Weston of Tingley, Iowa; her grandparents, Jim and Mary Ann SMITH of Beaconsfield, Iowa and Norma and husband Gene BINNING of Grand River, Iowa; great-grandmother, Marie WOOKEY of Grand River, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Robert and Dawn SMITH of Durant, Iowa, Debbie and Chad FIDERLEIN of West Branch, Iowa, Judy and Todd PEDERSEN of Ankeny, Iowa, Brenda and Max BOLES of Grand River, Iowa and Darin and Shelly WOOKEY of Murray, Iowa; her cousins, Jason PIERSCHBACHER, Melanie and Jordan PEDERSON, Russell BOLES, Kayla and Brycen WOOKEY, Blaine, Donovan and Julia SMITH and Cael and Wyatt FIDERLEIN and many more family and friends.
Jessica was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Floyd PIERSCHBACHER and Duane WOOKEY and her great-grandparents, Mildred and Francis SMITH, Geneva and Boyd PIERSCHBACHER, Ollie and John D. HERREN, Fern and John FITZGERALD and Day WOOKEY.
A memorial fund has been established to the Tingley United Methodist Church and Hospice of Central Iowa-Mount Ayr.
Services were conducted at the United Methodist Church in Tingley, Iowa on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Brian OLIVER and Rev. Ainslee BRILLO officiating. The eulogists were Shawn THOMPSON and Marcia SHOWATLER. Musicians were Nancy SACKETT, John ALLEN and Justin AKERS. Arrangements were made by Wilson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Casket bearers were Debra WILSON, Jenny HOSFIELD, Nicole MINNICK, Kelsey MEESTER, Alden ADAMS and Justin COLE.
Jessica was laid to rest at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Grand River, Iowa.
