LeROY FRED KONOPASEK ... LeRoy Fred Konopasek, age 88 of Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Frank Anton and Lottie Fern [Gatenby] Konopasek, was born March 9, 1923 at Clearwater, Nebraska. He died at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa on Thursday, February 16, 2012.

Roy grew up in Page, Nebraska and was baptized in the Platt River. He met Nina Allen at a ball game in Lamoni, Iowa. He took her to Troy, Kansas to make her his bride in January of 1944. They became parents to six children, with only three surviving to adulthood.

Roy worked for Smith Brothers in Lamoni as plant manager and truck driver delivering dishes to Ohio. Then he worked twenty years at Kneip Packing as the maintenance supervisor. After retiring in 1988, he spent his free time working for his brother at Lamoni Farms for over ten years. Roy and Nina wintered in Texas for several years. Roy enjoyed playing golf and doing woodworking. He made shelves, birdhouses, and seven grandfather clocks. He was a member of the Decatur Restoration Branch Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Dalen Konopasek, and three children, Sheryl, Gary, and Donald. Survivors include his wife Nina of Lamoni; three sons, Allen "Al" Konopasek and wife Carlene of Eagleville, Missouri, Leland Konopasek and wife Sharon of Buckner, Missouri, and Robert "Bob" Konopasek and wife Debbie of Blue Springs, Missouri; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great, grandchildren; brothers, Doyle & Joan Konopasek of Kellerton, Iowa and Larry & Joann Konopasek of Warsaw, Missouri; sister Leona Grass of Tekamah, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and many friends.
