DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa February 8, 2012)

REDMAN, Oneta Lorene [Stark], 97, of Osceola, Iowa and formerly of Decatur County, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Afton Care Center in Afton, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa with Rev. Ruth Ann Jones officiating. Interment was held in the Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

ONETA LORENE [STARK] REDMAN ... Oneta Lorene [Stark} Redman, daughter of John Leslie Stark and Esther Merle [Cole] Stark was born April 2, 1914 in Decatur County, Iowa near Grand River. She passed from this life Saturday, February 5, 2012 at the Afton Care Center in Afton, Iowa at 97 years of age.

Oneta lived most of her life in Decatur county. She attended Denham Country School in Decatur County. She was united in marriage to Walter Leonard Redman on July 24, 1936 in Clarinda, Iowa and they farmed in Decatur county for 46 years. All but three of those years were on the Redman farm near Grand River. She was a farm wife, helping Leonard with the bookkeeping and any chores that needed taken care of. they raised their three children, Marlene, Marilyn and Jim on the farm. After the loss of her husband in 1982 Oneta moved to Osceola.

At the age of 16, she was baptized in a lake near Malcolm, Iowa and became a member of an undenominational Christian Church. In 1983 she joined the First Christian Church at Osceola, Iowa. She was initiated into Grand River Chapter No. 510 Order of Eastern Star on January 22, 1944 and is now a member of Leon Chapter No. 352. She received her 50 year certificate and pin in October of 1994.

The relatives who preceded Oneta in death were her parents; husband Leonard; son-in-law, Robert Turner, son-in-law, Kenny Gordon, son-in-law, Lloyd Booth and twelve brothers and sisters.

Oneta leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Marlene Turner of Plano, Texas; daughter, Marilyn Booth of Brighton, Colorado; son, Jim Redman and his wife, Dorlan, of Hamilton Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and four sisters, Doris Redman, Martha Reasoner, Ellen Peterson and Joann Brink.
