DEATH NOTICE:

STEPHENS, Cathy Louise, 61, of Norwalk, Iowa, died on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation was open after 12 noon on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Dale Short officiating. Interment will be held in the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

CATHY LOUISE STEPHENS ... Cathy Louise Stephens, age 61 of Norwalk, Iowa, daughter of Rex Junior and Anna Mae [Hook] Parson, was born May 9, 1950 in Leon Iowa and died January 27, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cathy grew up and attended school in Leon and Garden Grove, Iowa.

She married Dennis James Daughton, and three sons were born to them: Rex James, Nick Shane, and David Lee. The family made their home in Leon. Cathy lovingly cared for her sons and also worked at O'Bryan Brothers. Cathy and Dennis were later divorced.

Cathy married Ronald Dean Stephens on October 6, 1990 in Des Moines, Iowa. Cathy became a part of Ron's family with step-children Jerry Leon, Michael Charles, Kelly Wayne, and Lisa Louise. Cathy worked over twenty years for CenturyLink Phone Company.

Cathy loved doing thins for her family - crafts, sewing, and making quilts. She enjoyed traveling with Ron to Mexico, Hawaii, and other places. She liked fishing, playing the slot machines, and her dogs. Raising flowers and watching birds and wildlife were other favorite pastimes. Cathy especially liked having her family altogether for holidays and other special times.

Preceding Cathy in death were her parents; son Rex Daughter on 1984; brother Jeff Parson; and sister Connie Huston.

Survivors include her husband Ron Stephens of Norwalk; son Nick Daughton and wife Sonja and grandchildren Mackinzie and Garrett Daughton of Ames, Iowa; son David Daughton and wife Stephanie of Garden Grove; step-children: Jerry Stephens and wife Tracey, Michael Stephens and wife Marcy, Kelly Stephens and wife Rhonda, and Lisa Aldridge and husband Dale, all of Des Moines; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister Cindy Earls of Creston, Iowa; brothers Harold Parson and wife Debbie of Clinton, Illinois and Gary Parson and wife Karen of Woodburn, Iowa, her nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and co-workers through the years.
