DEATH NOTICE:

McELFISH, Mary Madylee, 88, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Graveside services and burial were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, Iowa, with Pastors Max Carmichael and Ron Helton officiating, under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville, Iowa.

MARY MADYLEE McELFISH ... Mary Madylee McElfish, daughter of Oliver and Hester [Jacobs] Bright, was born near Lineville, Iowa, on September 1, 1923, and passed away on October 26, 2011, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 88 years.

Mary was united in marriage to Claud Junior "Bease" McElfish on December 6, 1941. Claud preceded her in death on May 12, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers, Paul and Earl Bright. She is survived by her daughter, Paulett McIntosh (and son-in-law, Donnie) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her son Roy McElfish (and daughter-in-law, Becky) of Leon, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tammy Bennett (and her husband, Phil) of Bethany, Missouri, Mark McElfish of Lineville, Iowa, and Marquitta and Mathew McElfish, both of Leon, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren, John, Ashley, and Whitney Bennett, Tylor, Tucker, and Tanner Perkins, Sierra McElfish, Erica Kauzlarich, and Cinzie McElfish; a sister-in-law, Clara Bright, of Des Moines, Iowa; and by other relatives and friends. Mary was raised in the Lineville, Iowa, community, where she lived most of her life, and farmed with her husband, Claud. She also worked as a cook in restaurants in Lineville, Iowa, and Mercer, Missouri, for several years, and later was employed by O'Brien Brothers in Leon, Iowa, until her retirement. She has made her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for the past 10 years.

Mary enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing bingo, and especially loved being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
