Wyant, James Uriah –
Graveside services were held at Lenox Cemetery Saturday for James U. Wyant, 90, who died at Leon Feb. 13. The funeral was at Leon Saturday at 11 am conducted by Rev John Gill. The Wyant family formerly lived in the Clearfield and Diagonal vicinities.

Mrs. Frank Routh is a niece of Mr. Wyant and Mrs Glenndon Walter is a granddaughter.
Obituary
James Uriah Wyant, youngest son of George A and Sarah Ann Morrow Wyant was born near Holton, Kansas, August 18, 1867 and passed away February 13 195& in the Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa at the age of ninety years, five months
and twenty six days.

At the age of seven years he moved with his family to Ringgold County, Iowa and settled on a farm on Platte River where he and his father later operated a grist mill.

He attended rural school in Lincoln township and academy in Lenox. December 9, 1891 was united in marriage with Margaret Alice Long. To this union were born five children: Hugh B. and G A of Leon; Ruth Graham of Brazil South America; Orville and Helen who proceeded him in death.

At an early age he united with the Platte Valley United Presbyterian Church, transferring his membership wherever he lived. At Bedford
he was Sunday School superintendent and was ordained as Elder. At the time of his death he was elder at Leon.

For a period of twenty-five years he served as cashier in banks in Clearfield, Bedford and Kinsley, Iowa. With the exception of three years in California and a short time in Ironwood, Michigan, his life was spent in Iowa, the past nine years in Leon.

Those left lo mourn his passing are his beloved wife, two sons, one daughter, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one niece Mrs Carrie Routh of Lenox, and other relatives and friends.
