DEATH NOTICE:

CREES, Elizabeth Worden, 88, of Osceola, Iowa, formerly of Weldon, died August 4, 2006 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Funeral services were held August 8, at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Jud Stover officiating. burial was in Green Bay Cemetery in Clarke County, Iowa.

ELIZABETH CREES ... Glady Elizabeth Worden Crees passed away Peacefully on August 4, 2006, at the age of 88, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Ira and Ida Worden, born on the family farm southeast of Weldon, Iowa, March 28, 1818 [sic].

She married Hoyle Crees (son of Clyde and Lulu Crees) on April 26, 1938 at the Central Church of Christ Church in Des Mones, Iowa. Born to this union were two sons, Larry and Leland.

During the first years of their marriage they farmed near LeRoy, Iowa. Moving yearly, they farmed south of Grand River, Sewal, and Hopeville before making their home on the Worden family farm southeast of Weldon, Iowa for fifty-six years. Elizabeth and Hoyle moved to Osceola, Iowa in 2000.

Elizabeth was an active 4-H leader in Decatur County for several years. She enjoyed gong to all the football games and wrestling tournaments that her sons were involved in. The Sew-an-Sew was a large part of her life; she was a member for over sixty years, making her one of the oldest members. Elizabeth was an avid gardener, with her love for flowers. Her pets were like family to her, she loved them all.

Employed at Snowden's factory in Osceola for over twenty years, she retired when they closed the factory. She kept many close ties with people who she had worked with and always enjoyed seeing them.

Her husband Hoyle, son Leland, grandson Curtis, parents, and brother Robert preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son Larry and wife Barb of Ankeny; four grandchildren: Rick and Tonya of Ankeny, Scott and Tina of Osceola, Conni and Rod of Winterset, and Kristen Crees of Kansas City; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
