“Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home on Grand Avenue for Dr. Cecil Murrow, founder of the Home Church Renewal Center at 5731 Urbandale Ave., who was found dead at the home at 4526 Kingman Blvd. Tuesday.

The body will be cremated.

Dr. Murrow served as pastor of the Union Park Christian Church for about five years, resigning in 1954 to enter psychological counseling and testing work.

Dr. Murrow, who had three years of graduate work in psychology, was instrumental in the opening of the Home Church Renewal Center, which seeks to combine religious ... with biofeedback, hypnosis, parapsychology and various counseling techiques in a effort to help persons achieve ‘wholeness’.

Dr. Murrow served as pastor of Quindaro Boulevard Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo., before becoming pastor of the Union Park Christian Church.

He was born in Polk County and held a master’s degree from Drake University.

He also worked in school guidance programs.

Survivors include his wife, Lois.”

(Dr Cecil Murrow married a Weldon women, Lois Keeler daughter of Bert West and Della May (Hall) Keeler, conducted weddings and funerals at the Christian Church in Weldon.)
