He is survived by his wife Karen Barton of Grand River; son Ronnie Barton and wife Sherri of Cainsville, Missouri; daughter Jackie Lochman and husband Vic of Van Wert, Iowa; grandchildren, Dallas Burdess and husband Donnie, Damien Barton and wife Brandie, all of Grand River, Brandi Cook and husband Zeb of Ridgeway, Missouri, Garrett Barton of Cainsville, Kayla Gwinn and husband Darrell of Osceola, Iowa, and Taylor and Cheyanne Lochmann of Van Wert; five great granddaughters, Gabrielle, Autumn, Brooklyn, Haley, and Larissa; sisters, June Robison of Leon, Iowa, Hope Mendenhall and husband Bob of High Point, Iowa, and Margaret Christensen and husband Richard of Carlisle, Iowa; brothers, Bob Barton of Grand River and Lester Barton and wife Anne of Chandler, Arizona; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

George attended country school and then graduated from Leon High School. He served in the United States Army in California from October 1955 until October 1957. George farmed all of his life near and around Grand River. He loved spending time with his entire family, going to church, playing cribbage, and enjoyed a hot cup of coffee every morning. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and often attended school events and plays.

George loved to travel, especially in the mountains. He loved the beautiful scenery and being outside in the fresh air. He loved listening to his gospel music, and to him there was nothing better than a good home cooked meal or a good smoked steak on the BBQ. Oh, and don't forget the rhubarb pie!

He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
