Neva Juanita Ballantyne, age 96 formerly of Lamoni, Iowa, was born November 12, 1914 in Harrison County, Missouri to James Doyle and Mary Prudence (Flanagan) Snethen. She passed away May 14, 2011 at the care center in Osceola, Iowa. She was one of eleven children.

As a young girl, Neva was baptized into the RLDS Church. On April 5, 1936, she married Robert M. Ballantyne. They were parents of five children. They lived their lives in Decatur County, Iowa and Harrison County, Missouri. Neva enjoyed working - gardening, sewing, especially quilting, and working with the little pigs at the farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995, six brothers, two sisters, and son-in-law Bill Wilcoxson.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Wilcoxson of Eagleville, Missouri, Jean and Ed Colyer of Urbandale, Iowa, Mark and Deanna Ballantyne of Lamoni, Gary and Janet Ballantyne of Blythedale, Missouri, and Sara Ballantyne of Lamoni; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren, sister Esther Williams Gordon; brother Clarence Snethen and wife Maxine; sister-in-law Rachel & Glen Trallinger; brothers-in-law Gene Ballantyne and Fred Wilson; many "much loved" nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Lamoni Community of Christ Church in Lamoni, Iowa on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 and 10:30 a.m. with Paul Snethen and Ed Colyer officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Arrangements were through the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.
