LESTER DUANE ROBISON ... Lester Duane Robison, age 83 of Leon, Iowa, the son of Virgil Lester and Florence Ottie [Baker] Robison, was born April 10, 1927 in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.

Lester, known as Red, lived his life in Decatur County. He grew up on a farm. While in high school, Red loved to play sports. He was active in football, basketball, and set some school records in track. He walked home the seven miles so he could stay after school for practice. After graduation he served two years in the military, being stationed in Japan. On June 1, 1947 he married his high school sweetheart, Juanita June Barton, at her parents' home in southern Decatur County. They were blessed with two children, Vickie and Ricky. Ricky was killed in an accident in 1973. Red farmed until he had a heart attack in the late 1970's. He then became a Field Representative for the ASC office in Leon until his retirement. Red served as President of the Leon School Board for many years, and was very proud to be a part of it.

Both he and June retired in the early 1990's and they enjoyed traveling throughout the country with their fifth-wheel for many years. Red was extremely proud of his wife and family. And, he always supported June in all of her crafts, quilting, gardening, and other outside activities.

Red continued to love sports, as an adult he played golf, bowled, and was an avid dancer, to include many years of square dancing. He loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He and June wintered in Arizona for years. There Red enjoyed his friends, playing cards, and playing the slots. He always said he was lucky.

Preceding him in death were his parents, infant brother Benjamin, son Ricky, siblings and spouses, Kenneth and Inez Robison, Bill and Nadine Robison and Flossie and Keith Smith, Junes' siblings, Jean and Clarence Courtney, Bill Barton, and infant sister Leona.
