THELMA MARIE ELMORE ... Thelma Marie Elmore, age 91 of Leon,Iowa, the daughter of William Earl and Rosa Nell [Harris] Showers, was born November 29, 1918 in Decatur County, Iowa. She died at Westview Acres in Leon on Monday, July 5, 2010.

As a teenager Thelma worked for local families helping with the children and the housework. She was baptized in the river near Woodland on a day when they had to break the ice first. On October 16, 1946 she married Earl Lavern Elmore in Topeka, Kansas. She farmed and raised their son, Gary. Thelma was a hard worker who enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. Her life revolved around her family, she remained close to her brothers and sisters.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Earl in May 1983; son Gary in August 1990; and her brothers and sisters: infant Elsie, Millie Petty, Vernon Showers, Lawrence Showers, Ruby Chapman, Floyd Showers, Dewayne Showers, and Ralph Showers.

Survivors include her brother Eldon Showers of Davenport, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
