JULIA ELLA HULLINGER ... Julia Ella Hullinger, 74, died Tuesday, March 17, 1987, at her home.

Mrs. Hullinger was born Nov. 11, 1912, near Saline, in Mercer county, a daughter of Robert N. and Sarah Elizabeth [Hall] Leeper. On June 20, 1942, she was married to Mervel Ellsworth Hullinger. They spent their entire married life on the farm, living one year in Mercer County, one year in Carroll County, Iowa, and two years in Greene County, Iowa. The last 33 years have been spent at their present farm home in Decatur County.

Mrs. Hullinger was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church; taught Bible School; served as president of the Women's Missionary Society and until her illness was church organist. She was a member of Queen victoria chapter, # 3310, Order of Eastern Star, Pleasanton; former member of the Lineville School Band Mothers; former 4-H leader; member of the Decatur county Farm Bureau Women, and was a member of their Kitchen Band.

Survivors include her husband, Mervel; one son, Dennis, and wife Judy, Lineville; two daughters, Judy Landrum, Lineville, and Donna Soliday, and husband, Don, Hardy, Ark.; four grandsons, Benji Hullinger, Jeffrey and Joseph Landrum and Nathan Soliday; four grand-daughters, Brenda Shields, and husband Richard, Beverly and Cherlyn Hullinger, and Rachel Soliday; one great-granddaughter, Megan Shields; two sisters, Mary Carey, Cherokee, Iowa, and Emma Lois Ventling and husband Orville, Corydon; three sisters-in-law, Edith Leeper and Minnie Leeper, both of Leon, and Lula Leeper, Omaha, Neb.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Earl, Bill, Twins Ralph Reuben and Manfred; five sisters, Blanche Inman, Lenore Huxtable, Zelma Worm, Ferna Lawrence, and Vivian, who died in infancy; and one son-in-law, Blaine Landrum.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., March 20, at the Slade & Duerr Funeral Home, Leon, with the Rev. Norris A. Ramsey and Pastor Dale Short officiating. Burial was in the Hamilton Cemetery, near Pleasanton.
