Obituary -

THEORA CARRICO WILLIS Theora Carrico Willis, son of John and Della Carrico Willis, was born September 10, 1911 near Akron, Missouri and departed this life on March 8, 1977 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri after a lengthy illness.

He grew up on the family farm near Akron, Missouri and attended rural schools there. He farmed southern Iowa 20 years, owned a grocery store in Davis City for two years and then worked for the Burlington Railroad until his retirement in 1978.

As a youth he was affiliated with the Riverview Baptist Church near Davis city and remained true to it's teachings all his life.

He was united in marriage to Daisy L. Hawk November 11, 1930 and to this union two children were born, both of whom survive him.

He was a member of the Mason's Remembrance Lodge #375 and Grand Valley Chapter Eastern Star at Davis City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Loren and Clifton; three sisters; Lella, Delana and Beatrice Hill: one great granddaughter, Maryls Scott; three brothers-in-law Wallace and Oliver Harness and Maynard Hill.

Those who survive him are his wife, Daisy; son Harlen and wife, Shirley, Kansas City; Virginia Brubaker and husband, David, Crescent City, California; six grandchildren; Mike and Darrell Scott, Jackie Lowman, Vicki Mitchell, Keli Willis and Jermaine Brubaker; three great grandchildren; Heather and Stevie Lowman and Michael Scott; three sisters: Grace Harness, Carrollton, Missouri; Cleopha Harness, Davis City, Iowa; and Ina Cordle and husband, Kenneth, Ottawa, Kansas; one brother, Wiley Willis and Wife, Virginia, Leon, Iowa; one aunt, Nellie Norris, Leon; one uncle Ora Carrico, Garden Grove; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was a faithful husband, a loving father and a friend to all who knew him.

The funeral was held at the Slade Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa at 2:00 p.m., Friday March 11, 1977. Rev. Dale E. Gray officiated, and the Remembrance Lodge #375 A.F. & A.M. Burial was in the Davis City Cemetery.
