NELLIE MARIE HAGAN ... Leon, Ia. - Nellie Marie Hagan, daughter of Jame sand Mary Ellen Bolon, was born at Davis City, Ia., May 4, 1906 and passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997 at the Westview Acres Nursing Home, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Hagan lived most of her life in Mercer County, except for seven years in Wisconsin. she was a graduate of Davis City High School, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in education from Marville State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools in Wisconsin and Mercer County, and taught in the high schools at Mercer, Princeton, Pleasanton, Ia., and Leon. She was a member of the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association and the Princeton United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Circle.

She was united in marriage to Charles Everet "Jack" Hagan, April 4, 1931 at Nevada, Ia.; he preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Hagan; three bothers, Jim, Charles and Dewey Bolon; and by one sister Betty Bolon.

Mrs Hagan is survived by her two daughters, Jackie Price and Mary Stiles, both of Princeton; three sisters, Margaret Manchester, Lamoni, Ia.; Grace Benton, Leon and Harriet Wright, Des Moines, Ia.; six grandchildren, Barbara Robinson, Lynn and Jean Price, Mike and Bill Stiles and Susan Esfahani; and by her seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Princeton United Methodist church, with Rev. Jan Schnepf officiating, under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service, Princeton. Burial was in the Davis City Cemetery.

The family has requested memorial donations to the Princeton United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
