EDWARD D. ERTS was born in Elkhart, Indiana, Jan. 28, 1871 and came to Iowa
at about the age of 17 or 18 years locating with his uncle, Mr. MARTIN near
Kinross, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Miss MINNIE LAKIN of South
English in December, 1896. To this union were born three children, WILLIE O
and HARLEY. One died in infancy. They lived in Keokuk County until
December, 1909, when they moved to Decatur County where they have lived
since. He died suddenly April 22, 1914. He joined the I.O.O.F. at Decatur,
June 22, 1912, and remained a member in good standing until his death. He
leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, two sons, a mother, three sisters, and two
brothers and many other relatives and friends. His mother started for the
funeral service but was taken sick on the train and had to return home. His
brothers were also unable to come. Mr. ERTS will be sadly missed from the
community as he was a good friend and neighbor and his family will have the
help and sympathy of all in their sudden bereavement. Funeral services
Friday P.M. at three o'clock at the Decatur M.E. Church in charge of Rev. J
A.E. Cunningham. Burial in the Decatur Cemetery.

The family and relatives desire through these columns to express their
thanks and deep appreciation to their neighbors and friends for their help
and sympathy in their hour of trouble.
