Decatur County Journal
Leon, Iowa
Thursday, June 18, 1914

EARL M. JENNINGS, the eighteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. OLIVER JENNINGS,
of near Leon, died at the home of his parents Friday of last week after a
short illness. He had been suffering with a bad attack of whooping cough
and had but a short time before seemingly recovered from it. A few days
before he was taken ill he had gone swimming with some neighbor boys. On
Tuesday he brought a load of hogs to Leon and on his return home that night
he became very ill and continued to grow worse until his death occurred on
Friday.

He was an excellent young man who was popular with a wide circle of friends
and his untimely death comes as a great shock to all. His bereaved parents
sisters and brothers have the sympathy of all.
