SMITH, Larry Eugene "Smitty", 55, of Aurora, Missouri, formerly of Decatur, Iowa, died Sunday, August 24, 2008. Funeral services were held August 28 in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial in the Spring River Cemetery, Aurora.

Memorials may be made to the family for expenses

LARRY EUGENE "Smitty" SMITH ... Larry "Smitty" Smith, 55, Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 of apparent heart attack.

He was born June 24, 1953 in Decatur, Iowa, to Fred Leroy and Beverly Ann [Howard] Smith.

"Smitty" as friends called him, was a welder by trade and did that for many years prior to working for the Verona Special Road District. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and enjoyed hauling cattle and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.

On December 12, 1978, he married Denice Jones in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She survives him of the home.

Additional survivors include three children: Kalee Carey and husband Eddie, Verona, Missouri; Jamie Jeter and wife Sara, Colfax, Iowa; Lori Fulton, Van Wert, Iowa; one brother, Lonney Smith, Springfield, Missouri; uncle and aunt, Wayne and Bobbie Smith, Van Wert, Iowa; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.
