A. DENISON CORNETT was born in Jacksonville, Kentucky, October 15, 1827. At
the age of three years he moved with his parents to Jackson County, Indiana.
There he was reared to manhood and at the age of 23, was united in marriage
with MARTHA ANN QUICK. They moved to Decatur County, Iowa, in the year 1864
where they spent most of their remaining years. In the year 1868, they
both united with the Christian Church. A few years after this the local
congregation disbanded and for several years they were without a church home
In the year 1874, they became identified with the Adventist Church. To
this union were born six sons and four daughters. Two of the sons died in
infancy, the remaining children who still survive are: NATHANIAL CORNETT, of
Osawatomie, Kansas; WILLIS CORNETT, of Seymour, Iowa; AARON CORNETT, of
Lamoni, Iowa; SHERMAN CORNETT, of Crawley, Louisiana; Mrs. GEO B. COOPER, of
Leon, Iowa; Mrs. CREVELING, of Diagonal, Iowa; Mrs. GORE, of Osgood, Mo.;
and Mrs. BELLOWS, of Lineville, Iowa. These together with other relatives
and many friends are left to mourn the departure of a kind and loving father
a good neighbor and a splendid citizen. For more than a year deceased had
made his home with his daughter, Mrs. GEO. B. COOPER, of Leon. Desiring a
church home where he lived, in the month of January, 1911, he placed his
membership in the Christian Church of this city and remained affiliated with
it until his death. He passed away February 23, 1912, at the age of 85
years, 4 months and 8 days.

Funeral services were held at the parlor of Hotel Leon, Lord's Day morning,
February 25, at ten-thirty, conducted by Rev. J.S. Coffin, Pastor of the
Christian Church. The remains were taken to the Creveling Cemetery near
Togo where they were laid to rest by the side of his companion who preceded
him to the better world, May 11, 1908.
