ENOS S. GRIMES was born in Park County, Indiana, June 20, 1840, and died at
his home in Davis City, Iowa, February 19, 1912, aged 71 years, 8 months and
29 days.

He was married to ANNA E. THOMPSON, March 21, 1861, and to this union were
born eight children, one GEORGE EDGAR, has preceded his father to the great
beyond, the remaining children being present; MILA J. MITCHELL, of Des
Moines; MARK F. GRIMES, of Leon; MINNIE A. WESTFALL, of Weldon; BERNICE V.
LAWHEAD, of Amity, Mo.; JOHN R. GRIMES, of San Francisco; OSCAR E. GRIMES,
of Gilman, Mo; and GRISSOM G. GRIMES, of Davis City. Mr. GRIMES moved from
Weldon with his family to Davis City 24 years ago where he has since resided
being engaged a number of years in the harness business. He was a man
noted for his honesty and square dealing with mankind. While living in
Weldon he was an active and enthusiastic worker in the Christian Church of
which he was then a member. His health has been failing the past year and
the last few weeks his sufferings have been intense. He was conscious up to
a few minutes before his death and met it with the grim fortitude that has
marked his entire life With the passing of Mr. GRIMES, Decatur County has
lost one of its best citizens, having lived at both Weldon on the north side
of the county and at Davis City on the south side. He was quite well known
throughout the county and has many warm friends who will be pained to learn
of his death.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Davis City Tuesday
afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. J.S. Coffin, Pastor of the Leon
Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Wynn, the M.E. Pastor of Davis City. An
extraordinary mark of respect was shown by the business men of Davis City,
who closed their places of business during the funeral services. A large
audience was present. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Davis
City Cemetery.
