HENRY MARSHALL was born in St. Charles County, Missouri, November 16, 1838,
and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.F. DURNAL, of Barron, Wisconsin
February 4, 1912.

At a very early age he moved with his parents to Calhoun County, Illinois,
where he lived until 1852. Then he moved to Grant County, Wisconsin, where
he lived until the opening of the Civil War. He enlisted in Co. G 3rd
Wisconsin Cavalry and spent three years and three months in his country's
service. In 1866 he came to Garden Grove, Iowa, near which place he spent
most of the remainder of his life. July 4, 1869, he was married to Miss
EMELINE BLAIR, who preceded him to the great beyond April 1, 1900. To this
union were born three children, PAULINE, who died in infancy; GEO. B., of
Milestone, Sask., Canada; and Mrs. W.F. DURNAL, of Barron, Wisconsin. He is
also survived by two brothers and two sisters, FRANCES W. MARSHALL, of near
Deer Plain, Illinois; J.W. MARSHALL, of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. JULIA ANER,
of Deer Plain, Illinois; and Mrs. CATHERINE HOOTS, of Cuba, Mo. He was a
charter member of Weldon Post G.A.R. No. 426 and later of the post at Bangor
Wisconsin, and Barron.

Mr. MARSHALL was beloved by all who knew him. He was prominent in Grand
Army circles and took a keen interest in the affairs of his community, the
State of his residence and the nation. Especially was Mr. MARSHALL
interested in the progress of Decatur County where he had resided for so
many years. The remains were brought to Garden Grove where interment
occurred on February 7th, Rev. Allen Judd being in charge of the funeral
services. Our people sympathize deeply with the bereaved children and
relatives.
