DAMON, Bonnie Margaret Page, 63. of Blue Springs, Missouri, formerly of Leon, Iowa, died November 23, 2009 at her home. A memorial service was held November 27 at the Blue Springs Remnant Church Congregation in Blue Springs, MO.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family is requesting that contributions be made to support Crossroads Hospice of Kansas City or to the Bountiful Development of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

BONNIE MARGARET PAGE DAMON ... Bonnie Margaret Page Damon of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away November 23, 2009, at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Damon, of the home; son, Matthew Damon of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Karin Damon of Austin, TX; and granddaughter Maggie Damon; also of the home. Other survivors include five sisters and one brother: Judy Kruzich of Berryville, AR, Sherie Page of Pelham, AL, Martha Marlin of Springfield, MO, Laura Schmidt of Pelham, AL, and David Page of Grandview, MO.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Aleta Mae Runkle Page. She also leaves on cousin, three nephews, three nieces, and two great-nephews.

Bonnie was born October 6, 1946 in Boulder, CO, the daughter of M. Norman and Eldred Imogene Boman Page. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Seminole, OK, where they lived as Norman served as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. In 1956, when Norman was accepted for full-time ministry with the RLDS Church, the family moved to Goodland KS, where Bonnie attended school through her sophomore year of high school.

His next ministerial move took the family to Mt. Pleasant, MI, where she completed her high school. She then attended and graduated from Graceland College in 1968, with a teaching degree in elementary education.

In 1983, she earned her Master's Degree from NWMSU. In 1968, she married Ralph Damon and they shared more than 41 years of joy and happiness together.

Outside of a few years when she remained home raising their children, Bonnie was a dedicated and outstanding educator of young minds. She taught in the classroom as well as in special need areas such as Title 1 reading and Math, eventually obtaining her Reading Specialist's certification. After more than thirty years of teaching, she retired in 2007, the last thirteen served in the Independence, MO School District.

Bonnie was a dedicated worker for her faith, her Church, and for all of her family and friends. She was a member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many roles and responsibilities. She was a member of the Women's Council, served on her local Congregational Women's Department, oversaw the Women's Council Website, and could always be found working at Vacation Church School programs, reunions, and retreats either in writing curriculum, teaching classes, serving as music director, or just "helping out."

In these last years, she became actively involved in the Missouri Mormon Frontier Foundation and served as its secretary. Her family heritage to the foundation of the Church of Christ, organized in 1830 in the home of Peter Whitmer, Sr., her great-great-great-great grandfather, was an important part of her legacy and she loved discovering new insights into the family and their early activities. The energy and vitality with which she lived will long be remembered by all who knew her as just one of her wonderful and remarkable attributes.

Bonnie deeply believed in the soon-to-occur fulfillment of the Kingdom of God on earth and actively supported her husband in his missionary roles throughout the world, even making a month-long trip to India in 1996 to accompany him in that ministry, it was a trip that forever changed her life and she intimately spoke of those events many times.

She will be missed deeply, but remembered richly.
