Decatur County Journal
Leon, Iowa
Thursday, March 17, 1910

WM. ROBISON, the subject of this sketch, was the son of JAMES ROBISON and
ELIZABETH MEANS ROBISON. He was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania,
December 4, 1836, and died at the family home March 10, 1910, from the
effect of a stroke of paralysis, taken in November, 1909.

In 1857 or 1858 he came to Decatur County. He was united in marriage to
Miss CATHRINE TRIMBLY, April 10, 1859. To this union were born five
children, B.F. ROBISON, Mrs. S.B. LATTA, JOHN T. ROBISON, SARAH ROBISON, and
W.D. ROBISON, all of whom reside in this county. He was converted and
united with New Salem Baptist Church in 1886, and has lived a devoted
Christian until death came and released him. In 1859 he settled on the farm
where they now live, being among the early settlers of Decatur County. Here
in this home they raised their children to man and womanhood. He lived to
see his children all settled down in good homes around him, all but SARAH
who has always lived at home. Brother ROBISON was a good man, a kind and
affectionate husband, a loving father, a good neighbor, a true friend and a
devoted Christian, and he will be missed by old and young.

The body was followed from the family home by a large procession of friends
and neighbors to New Salem Church where funeral services were held by Rev.
Cyrus Devoe, scripture lesson being read from Rev. 21:4, "And God shall wipe
away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former
things have passed away." After services the body was laid away in New
Salem Cemetery by the hands of kind friends who sympathize with the
companion and children in their bereavement.
