CHARLES MCDOWELL, son of Mr. And Mrs. J.W. MCDOWELL, of near Davis City,
dropped dead last Friday afternoon about 2 o'clock as he was passing along
the walk near the home of Mr. And Mrs. M.S. JONES on his way from the home
of his brother, DOSS MCDOWELL, to the home of his sister, Mrs. F.L. LOREY.

He had been ill for some weeks, having returned recently to the home of his
parents from Horton, Kansas, where he had been employed several years as
lineman by a telephone company. He had been taking treatment from
physicians at Davis City, and on the day of his death was on his way from
DOSS MCDOWELL's home, where he had been for dinner, to the home of Mrs.
LOREY to get his medicine. As he reached the home of Mr. And Mrs. JONES he
fell to the walk. Mrs. J.R. BOWSHER, Mrs. ANNA CURRY and Miss HENRIETTA
VOGT saw him on the walk and calling Mrs. JONES they hurried to his
assistance. The unfortunate man was carried by the four ladies into the
JONES home and physicians called. The physicians found him dead upon their
arrival.

CHARLES A. MCDOWELL was born January 16, 1874, and died at Leon, Iowa,
September 20, 1912, at the age of 38 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was
the son of Mr. And Mrs. J.W. MCDOWELL, of Davis City, where most of his life
was spent. He is survived by his parents, six brothers and three sisters,
he being the first of a family of ten children to pass away. The surviving
brothers and sisters are EDWARD K., Mrs. ROSE E. KEMP, WILLIAM E., BERT C.,
Mrs. JENNIE ATTEBURY, Mrs. GRACE LOREY, DOSS C., COY R. And IRL D. The
deceased realized that he was in a critical condition and was prepared to
meet his God.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the home of his sister,
Mrs. F.L. LOREY, in this city, conducted by Rev. Wm. Biggs. Interment was
in the Leon Cemetery.
