Thursday, November 14, 1912JOHN ROBERT BLAKE was born in Coshockton County, Ohio, October 1, 1833. He
died at his home two and a half miles south of Leon, November 3, 1912, at
the age of 79 years, 1 month and 2 days.He was one of the early settlers of Decatur County, having moved here in
1856, and settled on the farm where he resided at the time of his death He
was married to SAMANTHA WILLS, June 18, 1881. To this union three children
were born, all of whom survive their father and were present at the funeral.
These are, Mrs. J.A. MARTINDALE, of Leon; J.O. And J.R. BLAKE, who reside
on the farm. These, together with their mother, and deceased's two sisters,
Mrs. K. HICKMAN, of Leon; and Mrs. W.H. MILLS, of Eden Township, and a large
circle of friends are left to mourn his departure. Mr. BLAKE united with
the Christian Church of Leon and was baptized by Rev. Porter about
forty-five years ago.The services were held at the Christian Church in Leon Monday, November 4,
conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.S. Coffin, after which the remains were laid
to rest in the Leon Cemetery.
