Decatur County Journal
Leon, Iowa
Thursday, September 26, 1912

W.P. BROWN, son of LEWIS BROWN, of Decatur, was killed by a train at Blue
Water, New Mexico, at 6:50 o'clock last Saturday morning. The remains were
brought to Decatur Wednesday afternoon for interment.

Mr. BROWN had been employed for some time as brakeman on the Santa Fe road
and made his home in Blue Water. Last Saturday morning the crew was at work
switching in the yards at Blue Water and in some manner Mr. BROWN got caught
by a car and was crushed to death. Particulars of the sad accident are not
obtainable as the Journal goes to press. LEWIS BROWN, the father, received
a message Saturday stating that the young man had been killed by his train
while engaged in switching at Blue Water. No other particulars were given
in the telegram. The time of holding the funeral had not been decided upon
as we go to press. Mrs. BROWN accompanied the remains to Decatur. Mr.
BROWN was a young man of sterling worth and his sad death is mourned by a
large circle of friends. Further particulars will be given later.
